A Tester is used to measure the quality of water in terms of chlorine and pH. If the values are not in line with standards, required chemicals are added to prevent the growth of algae, to disinfect, to adjust pH, to remove dirt from the edges and calcium deposits, coagulate, to winterize, etc.
Should it be required to drain the pool to replace water and clean it, then for the shortest time possible. In no case should the pool remain empty in wintertime, while the subsurface water level is high, and during summer heat waves, when the walls could become permanently deformed.
The pool remains full over winter. Let water drain 5 cm below the intake jets, in the pool with counter-stream 5cm below its facemask. Remove and store the filtration pump, the counter-stream equipment, and the filtration manometer. Open all valves, including those on the pump, filter, chlorinator, heater, etc., and loosen bolts. Remove the ladder, add winterizing chemicals, and cover the pool with a tarp. Use dilatation floaters and place them along the longitudinal axis. Empty PET bottles suitably weighted may replace the floaters.
